A checklist for clarinetists to use before auditions and exams (will be available soon as a download)

  1. Bottle or two of water
  2. A small amount of food for the travel time (especially if a long trip) and if you’re delayed
  3. Reading Material
  4. TWO copies of each of the music you are performing
  5. Several reeds in use
  6. An extra mouthpiece
  7. Instruments in good working order (get it checked a month or so before your audition)
  8. Your mouthpiece cap
  9. Your clarinet stand
  10. A small screwdriver
  11. A portable music stand, for the warmup room
  12. A pair of mittens with the fingertips cut out, especially in more northern climates or air conditioning
  13. A container for a small amount of water to wet reeds.
  14. A tuner/metronome (can usually get this as a phone app if you have a smartphone)

  • clariniano: Thanks for the additional information. It was actually Yelp that deleted my reviews, because of so-called bias. I too have seen the horrible technique
  • No Thanks: Former Teacher at the Ontario Conservatory of Music I took lessons at the Ontario Conservatory and when I left for private lessons from another tea
