Meri’s Musical Musings

The 10 worst things about the clarinet

Posted on: June 6, 2014

  1. Reeds!!!!

  2. The little finger keys often going out of adjustment, especially on the left hand side

  3. Remembering so many alternate fingerings for notes, especially in the altissimo register

  4. Throat tones!

  5. Having to have at least two instruments for orchestral and chamber music

  6. Aligning the bridge key just right

  7. The cost of all the cool accesories that you would like (and sometimes even need)

  8. The cost of mouthpieces

  9. The fact that some people confuse clarinets with flutes

  10. Unintentional squeaks
