The right length of lessons for music students

30 min lessons:

Young beginners (under 7 years old)

Even they should be moved to longer lessons as soon as it is feasible

45 min lessons

Most students benefit from this lesson length

Beginners older than 8 or 9 years old

Younger beginners who are learning challenged

Intermediate students who are relatively quick learners and who are strong in most aspects of their music study

60 min lessons

Students at least 13 years old

Students who are studying at least to a late intermediate level of study

Intermediate students who are weak in ear training or music theory

Students who are looking to make music a career

Students who frequently do auditions, exams and competitions

Slower students learning intermediate repertoire.

Students who are behind their peers in their music studies (especially on string and wind instruments)

75 min + lessons

Students wanting a highly comprehensive musical curriculum

Students who are looking to make music a career

Students who frequently do auditions, exams and competitions
